Rosso di Montalcino is often dubbed Baby Brunello for its fragrant and focused Sangiovese character that's less structured and tannic than Brunello di Montalcino. The 2014 release from the historic CastelGiocondo Estate in Montalcino — one of the original four properties to produce Brunello in 1800 — offers appealing spicy and earthy complexity on the nose with an abundance of red fruit notes. On the palate, the red fruit spectrum is more tart than the nose suggests, with peppery accents and a clean, fresh food-friendly finish. Drink now to make the most of its bright and juicy character.
