The launch of the 2016 Penfolds Collection (in October 2016) was in many ways a coronation of the 2012 Grange, a meaty and majestic red that delivers all of the complexity and character one expects from the iconic label. But the smart money is always on the more affordably priced St. Henri as well as the Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz, which sadly haven’t been getting listed by liquor boards with any frequency of late. The 2013 St. Henri is one to watch, with a bright, juicy character that’s incredibly appealing right now. It’s a sublime, structured wine that promises to mature gracefully over the next decade and beyond if you’re so inclined.
