Tawse’s 2012 Estate Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from the organic and biodynamcially farmed vineyards surrounding the winery on Cherry Avenue and the neighbouring Hillside Vineyard (down the street at the former site of Lakeview Cellars). Richer and rounder than the 2012 Quarry Road Vineyard — which, to my taste, is the most expressive and enjoyable of the collection — the estate bottling impresses with its good intensity aroma and appealing mix of tropical and tree fruit, spice and vanilla. This is reaching its peak potential and promises to drink nicely over the next two to four years. 500 cases.
