This is a lighter expression of the Santedame Chianti Classico that clearly reflects its vintage. The 2014 growing season was marked by a cool spring and summer and faced frequent hailstorms in July and August — some of the most challenging circumstances ever experienced. Mild and dry conditions (ideal warm days and cool nights) in mid-September and early October saved the vintage, producing classic style Chianti Classicos with bright acidity and attractive aromas. A blend of Sangiovese with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Coloroino from the Santedame estate, this is an elegant and energetic red that’s best enjoyed with a meal.
