Wismer Vineyards’ Wingfield block is located in Vineland on the east side of Victoria Avenue. Planted in 1993, it’s the highest elevation of the family’s holdings, located furthest from Lake Ontario. Winemaker Thomas Bachelder refers to it as one of Niagara's Grand Crus and points out the cooler site is typically harvested a week or more after Wismer's other Chardonnay vineyards. This was produced using Bachelder’s time honoured techniques, including gentle pressing and barrel fermentation with indigenous yeast. More classic and age-worthy than the riper 2012 vintage, this is restrained and focused with an appealing and  refreshing character, buttery texture and noteworthy minerality from start to finish.
